Your membership request triggers an approval workflow which involves the representative of your institution (IR), and the IB - if you are physicist / faculty/staff - followed by the creation of your DESY credentials (account name / password). The entire process is usually finished within one workday but obviously depends on the availability of people.

If your affiliation with your current Belle II institution ends, e.g. after finishing a thesis, your current Belle II institution representative (IR) will set your Belle II membership to 'Expired'.
