March 2014

the mirror was moved in 1 mm steps horizontal, the vertical calibration is based on a round alignment laser (here a aspect ratio of 2:1 was found)

Important calibration Things

Calibration procedure

  • Calibration with marks / holes
    • first the size in pixel of a structure of known size is determined. (be careful images saved as PNG may have a different pixel size as the original image !!)
    • The Vertical calib factor can be determined directly
    • The hor calib factor hat to take into account that the beam on the screen is larger due to the projection. So the calibration factor is larger for the horizontal direction in contrast to the vertical. this gives the angle of the screen in respect to the camera Tan = projection / beam. for the beam one can use the vertical size ( for round objects / beams). This gives the calibration for objects on the screen. However the Beam is projected on the screen and is larrger than the beam itself. and as second step one has to include the projection of the beam onto the screen with the factor Cos(screen angle)
    • for our 30 deg screns this is: calib(for Beamprofiles) = calib(with objects on the screen) / Cos(screen angle) = calib(with objects on the screen) * 1.15
    • for illustration:Clipboard01.jpg

Distance Focussing mirror to Screen.

For BL2 and 3 the distance of the screen is about 55 cm from middle of the ellipsoid to the screen.

Screen dimensions

Height: 40 mm
Large holes: 2 mm diameter
Small holes: 1 mm diameter

distance of the large holes vertical: 10 mm
distance of the large and the small hole horizontal: 5 mm
distance of the hole groups horizontal: 23 mm

  • Beamline_screens.jpg:
    Beamline_screens.jpg

There is also an older Version with only 3 holes. there the diameter is also 2 mm and the distance between the holes is 23 mm
